We are Colleen Harland and Lynne Ricardo, International Board Certified Lactation Consultants and Registered Nurses practicing independently. We are happy to offer prenatal breastfeeding education and lactation consults in the comfort of your home on the South Shore or Southeastern Massachusetts. We can assist you with challenges you may be facing, offer helpful tips and provide education. You will have a better understanding of your newborn's feeding patterns and behaviors, easing to a smoother transition home. We consider it a privilege to meet with parents in their homes as we work together to develop a plan to meet your goals. We offer flexible appointments during weekday, evening and weekend hours.
This class is designed to help you and your support person learn about breastfeeding your baby before he or she is born. You will learn what to expect, especially in the early days of breastfeeding. We will teach you practices that are proven to be beneficial in establishing breastfeeding success. You will feel prepared and ready to get breastfeeding off to a good start from baby's very first feeding.
Consult includes a thorough intake including maternal history, birth history and addresses any concerns you may have. During the consult, expect a weight check of your infant as well as a feeding assessment. You will be provided with recommendations for a personalized feeding plan. We will send a summary to your obstetrician, midwife or baby's pediatrician. Follow-up via telephone or email is included in the fee for a 2 week period.
Continued follow-up consults are available. This allows for ongoing assessment with your lactation consultant. It includes a weight check for baby as well as feeding assessment and revision of your customized feeding plan.
Although a virtual consult has limitations by nature, it is a useful resource. Common issues can easily be addressed including a prenatal consult, weaning, and planning pumping/return to work.
Private lactation consults are available at South Shore Perinatal Wellness Center, Norwell, MA. Prenatal, feeding assessment, pumping, planning to return to work, partial or full weaning and bottle refusal are a few reasons for this appointment. Breastfeeding support and education.
